Year 2 Music 15th May

Hello everyone.

Can you tap your name like this: Mis-sus Ha-nna.  (my name has 4 taps)

Ask others in your family to do the same…… How many taps for their names…?

………………………………

Could you ask someone in your family to tap a slow regular beat 8 times. Can you step around the room in time to the beat?

Now ask your grown up to tap 16 times, twice as fast, while you step in time with them.

Swap over and you try tapping while your grown up moves…!!

……………………………..

Listen to The Sound of Music clip from last week, and sing…

Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-do.

Then sing up 5 notes from the bottom: Do-re-mi-fa-soDo-So.

Do (No 1) and So (No 5) are the 2 most important notes in any piece of music or song. Lots of pieces of music finish on Do, and frequently end with so-do which sounds very final.

Could you sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star all the way through?

The first twinkle is sung on Do, the second on So.

Now sing the same tune, but with these words…

DO DO SO SO back to DO,

Going down and down to DO

SO SO going down a bit,

SO SO going down a bit,

DO DO SO SO back to SO

Going down and down to DO

African Songs!  Here is a new one for you…..it’s a Greeting Song.

Fun-ga  a-la-fia,

A-sie, a-sie  (pronounced A-shey)

Fun-ga  a-la-fia,

A-sie, a-sie .

Translation: Give us peace, thank you, thank you.

Can you find your Tick Tock fingers?

Click here to download and play: Yr R,1&2 Tick Tock

(Put your index fingers up in the air and wave your hands like windscreen wipers in time with the rhyme).

To help you with the rhythm and pulse:

Tick, tock, tick, tock,                                (Swish hands on each word)

Time to stop, time to stop,                     (Swish hands on Time, & stop)

That’s the end of the les-son.                (Swish hands on That’s, end, les, son.)

  1. Mrs S TEMP

Mrs Hanna, I really love the African song you put on here for Year 2, I have been singing it all afternoon. It’s soooooo catchy! Maybe we can sing it on our Zoom next week?
