PP funding

Pupil Premium:

Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.

The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and paid by a means of a specific grant based on school census figures for students who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as Ever 6 FSM). For looked after children, the Pupil Premium was calculated using the Children Looked after data return.

A premium has also been introduced for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. This service premium is designed to address the emotional and social well-being of these students.

The Pupil Premium is additional to main school funding and will be used by St John’s CE Primary School to address any underlying inequalities between children eligible by ensuring that funding reaches the students who need it most to support and improve their learning.
