Class 6 is taught by Mr Josh Still (Monday – Thursday) and Mrs Jane Gillhouley (Friday), supported by teaching assistants Miss Lydia Slaughter, Mrs Fiona Foss and Ms Jo Bennett.
This year we begin to prepare the children for their transition to secondary school. Part of this preparation involves taking on new roles and responsibilities, such as the role of house captain, sports captain, tuck shop manager and sports reporter in addition to the school council representatives. We learn to become more independent, focussed, mature and responsible learners. We endeavour to take an active role in our own learning, developing our deeper questioning and critical thinking skills.
A highlight in Year 6 is a residential trip to Barcelona, Spain, where the children are immersed in the Spanish culture and language.
Additionally, it is in May that Year 6 that children will take their end of year assessments .
We look forward to watching your children grow both academically and emotionally as they learn through the year. We invite you to read our class blog to find out more about life in Class 6.
