This term has seen us delve in to all things Fairy Tale. We’ve read a collection of Roald Dahl’s revolting rhymes and loved the knicker-concealing, pistol-whipping Little Red Riding Hood or “Red” for short. We’ve studied the incredible yet disturbing clay models of The Singing Bones, Ms. Bennett has had us creating some of our own – we look forward to seeing the finished products towards the end of term.
Our main focus this term has been living and understanding the famous fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood. We have read the story, drawn the story, acted it out in groups and as a class (see our images below) and we’re now beginning to re-write the story with our own beautiful, descriptive language. We’ve written powerful poems with detailed imagery to describe emotions and we’ve compared a classic tale across several European countries. I think it’s safe to say we are Little Red Riding Hood experts now in Year 6!
Towards the end of this term, we will be creating our very own fairy tales from start to finish. I am looking forward to those tales being a huge success of our writing prowess in Year 6. Throw in a bit of violence or suspense and our class seems to come alive!
